Kind of the beginning of the end for Billy. "Big Man on Mulberry Street" is great though.

With ALL due respect, this album was not Billy's last hurrah. Lots more great music from Billy on subsequent albums. At the risk of turning this thread into a video jukebox...

A rare live version of Running on Ice:

Modern Woman Live:

rare b side, also included in My Lives box
Elvis Presley Blvd:

Only Billy Joel could create a killer song about bi-polar disorder
I Go to Extremes Live:'

I should correct myself. For me, personally, this was the beginning of the end. I like about half of this album. As opposed to The Nylon Curtain where I liked every song. I saw him in Atlanta on the Storm Front tour. I liked the show so much I saw him again two nights later. Live he's always been great.

You CAN'T GO WRONG with those old 360 sound - double walking eye labels.

I bought that BS&T on 1st pressing as a NEW RELEASE at Sears in Oakbrook Center, Oakbrook, IL on sale for @2.99 in VERY late '68.

First, a picture of the EXACT SEARS location. For its' 1st 9 years, Oakbrook was Sears #1 NATIONWIDE. It's crown was given to a newer Sears in suburban Chicago 9 years later in Schaumburg, IL: Woodfield Mall.

Sears Oakbrook, as it looked in late '68. Picture and article from Dave Aldrich's dynomite! Pleasant Family Shopping blog. A must for anyone who grew up around Chicagoland! "Jewels" food store tested many things that soon began to be implemented chainwide:

BS&T (2) is in my top 10 all time albums. Have seen them lots of times live, including twice at the Sands in Vegas.

As good as a 1st pressing 360 walking eye sounds. Here are a couple pressings that best it, IMHO, I bought them upon release, as well as the 1st pressing. First, copy that bested it. Bought it in early 1980 as a new release 1/2 speed at Musicland Southlake Mall, NW Indiana! Nothing short of spectacular played by my Ortofon MC 20 MK II low output moving coil.

Later in 1980, Direct Disk Labs came out with the same title, dbx encoded (requires dbx decoder!) Bought the dbx encoded version at Rose Records on Ogden in Westmont/Downers' Grove, IL. MY GO TO analog 2 ch copy:

Don't forget the 2 ch SACD releases and Quad LP, Q8 & 5.1 SACD.

We're still holding tix at Arcada Theater, St. Charles, IL for 2020 show of David Clayton-Thomas. Ron Onesti, the promoter who runs the Arcada and Des Plaines Theaters assures us that it will be rescheduled.

A message for Onesti: Ron, I know where you live and work! Better get DCT rescheduled, or you'll be forced to cook us one of your legendary Italian dinners. We have mutual friends, too. Onesti has flipped us comp tix on occasion!

At the risk of derailing this thread, y'all have no idea how TRULY great vinyl can sound! Try a low output MC cartridge w/mint 1st pressing ANALOG master, NOT from digital files. How about a Direct-to-Disc, quality 1/2 speed master, or analog audiophile pressing?

Yes, Ortofon MC will work for CD-4, but you need to set it up METICULOUSLY. Shibata or Fine Line stylii! YOU HAVE NEVER HEARD VINYL SOUND THIS GOOD!!!! and MCA-76 pre-preamp w/CD-4 switch!! JAW DROPPING!!

Even for 2ch, ditch the Elliptical. Ditch the moving magnets. YOU"LL NEVER REGRET IT. Otherwise, a nail works as well as a conical stylus!! and it's cheaper and more durable.

Sermon over. Get ready to spend some serious $$$ and listen to vinyl as never before! Been listening that way for 45 years!! You could walk into my store and hear an Ortofon MC 20, Infinity tonearm mounted on a Kewood Pro or Technics pro TT! through 500w ch Kenwood Pro monobloc amps & matching preamp. Infinity, ESS, KLH, AR, Bose 901 and other speakers playable through it all. Instantly!! 1978?? no way. We printed ALL invoices on a computer! Kept inventory that way, too. 5 full time service techs, IN STORE!!

We were consistently #2 in our 110 store chain. Berkeley, CA, our 1st store was consistently #1. They were beat only once, by US!! Our Grand (re)opening had Steve Dahl (later Mr.. Disco Demolition Night). and champagne flowing like crazy, free albums (we WERE owned by CBS!!)

Ours was ONLY STORE in 110 store chain where you could see/hear that on display. My store. Lombard, IL. We were authorized dealers for high end lines that NONE of our other stores were even franchised for. 'CAUSE WE KNEW HOW TO SELL HIGH END GEAR!!

IN '78, we built a newer, better store across the street. We were the test market for our new store design and signage. blue signs. Marketing company heading the project was in Oak Brook, IL, next town from our store. I opened new Lombard and a year later opened Schaumburg, IL for Pacific.

IMHO, CD's sound better than the way most people listen to vinyl. Listen for real and GET THE HEAVY MAGNET STRUCTURE OFF THE CANTILEVER. FREE YOUR VINYL FROM BEING BOUND UP!! Otherwise, it's just like shorts or a bra that are too tight. painful!
