Get the "oils on the water", goat Island concert. It's probably the best live concert I have viewed
I've got it on my wantlists in all the usual places. I'm hopeful it'll turn up soon. You reminded me that i have been blessed to see Midnight Oil live twice. At the first show, they invited the American Indian Center in Chicago to present; at the second, Garrett stopped the show early on to ensure that a young girl in the front row had proper ear protection. Great shows both. Really looking forward to finding a copy of Best of Both Worlds without prohibitive shipping costs!

Bought this CD after seeing Sufjan Stevens live. Listening to it through the SM v.2 makes it come alive and takes me back to that show of over a decade ago! AMAZING! Go BLUE lights!

Chucky is a mean, cheap and miserable Dutchman! But I am good with favors and have a long memory.
If only we could apply more emoji's Chucky...

I would have put :ROFLMAO: and  to cover both statements.

Clem's passion knows no bounds when he's using his eloquent, descriptive reviews.

Anyone would think he taught English!! ;)

I still struggle with English, before I met my wife when I was 22 (she is 6 generation Australian), I spoke with a thick Dutch accent and was incapable of pronouncing "TH". If I said the phrase "That thing over there", it would come out " Dat Ting over Dare"...............

In another thread, SQ matrix decoding (rather than QS) was recommended for creating fake surround sound from stereo in some cases, have you tried the SM SQ setting on any of this stereo content to see if the fake surround sound is any "better"?

No! But you've given me a reason to listen even more! Thanks! I'll try and report back. It's going to be kind of difficult to A/B (unless i get my wife involved) because the unit is in a different room–fun with running speaker wire! Thanks for the suggestion! Lord knows i don't mind listening to music through the Surround Master! Stay Surrounded, Comrade!

Yes that is what I thought but I have had several reports of really good decode on the CD4 discs. It would have been very simple to sneak a little bit of phase info into the recording Perhaps not the full RM blend of 0.414 but maybe 0.21 as it would easily pass as normal stereo then. Cannot prove it though!
JVC, PROUD inventors of CD-4, would never admit to it anyway. I've played CD-4 records through the SM, and while they do sound good, they sound nothing like the mix you hear when the record is properly demodulated.

On a simple basic matrix SQ decoder lots of stereo information that doesn't belong there will pop up in the rear speakers. With full logic or Tate DES or the SM, very little would do that. You should hear a very dominant & wide stereo like front stage and the only thing popping up in the rears will be the odd random bits that appear to be center back to the decoder.

It just happens that the way stereo recordings are made that the amplitude/phase relationships that exist make a QS/Involve decoder most suitable for it.

I’ve always found SQ decoding of straight non-matrix stereo recordings to produce anything from weird to unimpressive results. I much prefer Involve mode.
