I still struggle with English, before I met my wife when I was 22 (she is 6 generation Australian), I spoke with a thick Dutch accent and was incapable of pronouncing "TH". If I said the phrase "That thing over there", it would come out " Dat Ting over Dare"...............

Think Gold Member:

So, you sounded Irish then lol

My facial hair was getting so tiresome that i decided to shave this morning and, of course, that reminded me of this beauty and, of course, it sounds AMAZING on the SM!

While living in Holland as a very young expat, the biggest bullshit line I continuously heard was, "My English is not so good." My response..."I'm from New Jersey, so your English is better than mine."

@Clement ’s recent posts have sparked some motivation in me to get my SMV1 working that I’ve had since August, bought from fellow QQ member @workmeistr ! My initial dedicated setup didn’t work out the way I hoped it would and it sat for months and months until I went out yesterday and scored a minty early 2010’s Pioneer VSX line AV Receiver with HDMI and of course, MCH IN. The inclusion of the HDMI inputs means I can use this receiver as my main processor and not have to worry about a dedicated SM setup in another room.

Spent the morning unplugging my old Yamaha and did some cable management. I haven’t even done level calibration yet but I couldn’t wait any longer… I popped in my 80s CD pressing of Aja. My god.

As soon as Black Cow kicked in the first thing I noticed was the soundstage. Unbelievable. The police whistle in Aja clearly was emanating from RR! Great stuff. Can’t wait to actually hear it when the levels are set proper.

@chucky3042 and all working at Involve Audio are really doing some amazing work and I think I speak for all of us here when I say we really appreciate all the hard work you’ve done!!!!!

No, much worse, I would mangle all vowels
You must be a Kiwi then. :p

Seriously, when I used to teach EFL in Japan (a long time ago), I was told (good) foreign-language schools don't like to employ New Zealand-native-English speakers due to their vowels indeed being "mangled". Aussies would be familiar with Kiwis pronouncing the word "six" as "sex", and "fish and chips" as "fush and chups". This is not a dig at Kiwis, it's just what I was told, though that didn't stop them employing Americans who treated "Will Merry marry Mary?" as three homophones. Even my Canadian lady can't distinguish "ferry" from "fairy", and she chides my accent (British/Australian, but from Adelaide, so more British) when I say "beer" or "car" as it's non-rhotic (unless it preceeds a vowel then the "r" magically appears to stop a vowel clash :p).

This was the first LP i owned, having received it as a Christmas present in 1970 (is it any wonder that children conflate Santa Claus and Jesus?). I played it to death as a kid, so i scored the recent 2021 remastering, which, you may have already surmised, sounds absolutely amazing through the Surround Master! Hosanna Hey!

Hey Zues!

Well if you're in the spirit, there's this CD-4 of Godspell (I haven't heard it, & understand it can be a hard Demod etc.) also I much prefer the music on Jesus Christ Superstar; so good recommendation. I should have this in my old LP collection somewhere, but

I learnt more about Jesus through this record than any other "teaching" that the Church gave. I remember I first heard it in my first year of secondary school (so 1972) by a very boring (classical) music teacher who was so excited about it, he played the whole thing to the class. I really liked the music, and once I found out that Ian Gillan was the lead singer I convinced my mum (an Irish Catholic) to buy it so I could learn more about Christianity. I sort of failed to mention that (i) Deep Purple were my favourite band then (and it was the first rock concert I saw a year earlier); (ii) Gillan sang the Jesus role; and (iii) it was really a rock album. Unfortunately for my mum, it didn't overcome my atheism, but I still give it a spin every so often.

That may well be the most quadraphonic recording that isn't really a quadraphonic recording of all time. Almost absurdly discrete through the SM.

I used to BUMP Black Radio by the Robert Glasper Experiment in my classroom; students adored it, often requested it! I saw this chartreuse vinyl in the sale bin at Squeezebox; on the strength of the earlier release, i picked it up. It's nearly as good as the first iteration, which is saying quite a LOT! And it almost goes w/out saying that it sounds wonderful through the ol' SM v.2!

The Ballad of John and Yoko - 2015 Remix from ‘1’ CD.

This one decodes perfectly in Involve mode! One of the first ones that made me say “Wow” out loud.

I’d be interested to see what it does differently to the original stereo mix but this one is just perfect. Vocals and Paul’s drums stay up front while Paul’s guitar overdubs ping pong between RR and RL. Amazing.
