Wow! Just ended my first run!
My mouth is open!
What an update to a mix.
It blows away many mixes Steven Wilson has done....I say that, because Steven always tried to hold the overall spirit of a recording.
But this mix is a true update.
So fat and warm and the rears are used so very thoughtful!
One of the best surround remixes I heard.
I know we are all to fast with winners, but this time it is so true.
I have a well treated room and it sounds...bombastic!

Which one, the 5.1 or the ATMOS?

You have said exactly what I'm thinking...although I'm not sure I can quite, agree with the Steven Wilson comments, as he is a true surround God, in my opinion.
Giles has finally come of age.
I understand now, why his long term friend and fellow engineer, hot footed it to Cornwall.
They know this cannot be topped.

3rd listen...if this heads nods any more, it will fall off!!

Well, I came home a bit early, and before I knew it, UPS was here!!! Shipped from Amazon, frankly I didn't care about getting the best price as long as it showed up on release day. That was more important to me at this stage of my life.

And it was well packed in what appears to be a factory type box

So, for the first time since the era of DVD-A and SACD, I actually took the thing into my "big room" to listen to it on a real audio system BEFORE I brought it up to the big PC to rip it and check out the wav's and make a version for the car. Wow. I was glad I did.

It was great. I listened to the whole thing in 5.1, watching the birds fly through the sky, then I decided to try the Atmos. Now my system in this room is actually 7.1, but it's not Atmos as my receiver is a Denon AVR-4308i, which was a decent receiver in the old days. Anyway, it worked! The receiver showed Dolby TrueHD 7.1!

So I then checked it out that way. Very cool!

First impressions are good. Notes that they did split the guitar solos at the end, one in F, R, and C. And "Her Majesty" is a great little surround demo!

More later, but this is really good. I am sure there will be nit-picks. My only sadness is that we did not have it like this in 1975 or so, when my ears worked a lot better and the music was a lot "fresher".

Oh well, you can't always get what you want! (Ooops! Wrong group!) :)

Just remind that you need multitracks to so a good surround mix. I don‘t believe that Steven would have done a better surround mix on Sgt.
Steven is good, but not near a god....Mr.Scheiner..can you hear me!? ;)

5th and last play through tonight.
I have never done that before, so that speaks volumes in itself.
Of course folk will find something not quite to their liking but this is as good as it gets... imo.

It's just hit the top of my desert Island disc list.

Even topping my beloved ELO and Roxy Music.....who would have thought that!!

Hi, it's me again. I completed the firmware update and all it did was, that the Player now recognizes that there's a BluRay Disc in the drive. But it doesn't show any content at all. So, I guess I'll wait over the weekend if anybody else encounters similar problems and then I'll try to complain and get another disc. Thanks again to you all for your support!
Oppo 203 plays perfectly
