That, of course. The Fountain of Lamneth is about as prog as they ever got. That also has great potential for surround. You’re not alone. A Steven Wilson 5.1 mix of The Necromancer would be absolute heaven for me

The Godfather!Joe Anthony, a local DJ, championed Rush in their early days. That’s him with Rush.
John Marshall HS 1977. Triumph even wrote a song about (a woman in) San Antonio.Interesting. I never saw either in concert in San Antonio but graduated from Churchill HS in San Antonio in 1981 and Triumph's Just a Game was one of my favorite albums. Didn't realize it was likely from local airplay, never understood why more people didn't get into them.
It should be noted that depending on the reason given, a return may be free or not. A couple of times I returned items because they were not as advertised (wrong picture, wrong description, wrong dimensions) and I did return a music DVD because the description said 5.1 and it was stereo only. It was a couple of years ago and the description is still wrong.Actually, you are wrong. One of the first reason options for returning something to Amazon for a refund is "Item no longer needed." Absolutely no requirement to say the item is damaged or defective in any way. Most vendors, particularly high volume vendors, recognize that buyers remorse over purchasing a product that doesn't meet customer's expectations, reasonable or not, is one of the most common reasons why items get returned. Vendors also recognize that having a generous return policy is more cost effective in the long run because it better promotes customer satisfaction and loyalty. Can it be abused? Of course, but don't worry about poor old Amazon. Customer returns are in fact monitored - not by return reasons - but by frequency. If Amazon decides a customer is returning too many items too frequently FOR ANY REASON, they will flag and warn the customer and can ban them from returning anything. Getting so worked up over this "issue" - to accuse people of lying even - is beyond silly.
A Passage to Bangkok was absent from the original CD but was added with the 1997 remaster. I don't know about All the World's a Stage as I never felt the need to buy it (and I have all of Rush's studio albums and most of the live ones).I'm only halfway through this thread, but wanted to add a thought. I am old and played football, so I don't know if I'll remember this in a few days...
I recall way way back when Mercury released the Chronicles compilation. I was excited because "A Passage to Bangkok" and "What You're Doing" were left off Exit...Stage Left and All the World's a Stage, respectively and this was the only way to get those songs in digital format. The band had already left for Atlantic Records, and he was asked about this on Rockline (I think). He said, and I am paraphrasing, "We don't have control of that release as it was our previous record company. But, if they are going to release it, we want to help as much as possible."
So, how much of the price point is controlled by Alex, Geddy and Neil's estate is something I am unsure of. Is it strictly Universal Music? I would be willing to bet that it is for the most part. I can't imagine Alex and Geddy saying that $300 sounds right for a bunch of crap that will go in a box in storage for many people. UMe knows it is their most popular album. They also know that the die hards will pay that much for this box.
It's off-topic, but a thing you could try with the Surround Master is to compare the standard and binaural versions of Sonder by TesseracT.For Rush, I've mainly run the more layered albums through the SMv3, figuring that would provide the most fun source material. Interesting and pleasing results from both albums, though you wouldn't mistake either for a discrete MC release. "Bigger Stereo" with occasional fun bits featured in the surrounds.
I've toyed with Hemi, P-Waves and maybe MP (can't exactly recall). The fewer layers, the less effective the SMv3 seems to be. Hemi put some synths and some cymbals in the surrounds, for example.

Off topic, but I notice your avatar has a new bottom half. Did I miss something?

Wish it had 5.1 in addition to Atmos. I hate when they do that.
The race is on... which one will be out first... Animals or Next?
Electric Lady Studios, maybe? The race is on... which one will be out first... Animals or Next?
Sadly, that's all you'll get is a "canned" response, and it'll just go in an endless circle of insanity. They don't care, all they want is your $300. And a lot of folks are gladly forking over the $300.My latest communications and last from Brian at the RUSH headquarters

We appreciate that you've taken the time to contact us!
Unfortunately, that would not qualify as a damaged item return as the item would be playing as advertised. However, if there are scratches or skips this could qualify the item to be classified as damaged. Either way you will be able to return the item, just if you receive the item undamaged, you would have to pay for return shipping fees to return the item to us, whereas for damaged items we provide a pre-paid shipping return label. I do hope this helps to answer your question!
Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Brian
Hi Brian
Again thanks for the quick response again, much appreciated, but would you buy a piece of artwork sight unseen?
I’m bringing this up because to spend over $300 for 1 Blu-Ray disc is unheard of as I am not interested in all the other material included.
If you’d offer the Blu-Ray disc as a stand alone, that would solve my issue.
Please reply ASAP
Sincerely
Mm

Again, you will be able to return the item regardless of the reason once you receive it, however, if the item is not damaged and was received as ordered, you would be responsible to pay for the return shipping fees to return the item to our warehouse for a refund. I hope this clears things up. We do apologize for any inconvenience.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions or concerns.

As advertised, huh? Well, they're advertising the new 5.1 and Atmos mixes as "masterful". I'm guessing that will end up being a bit of false advertising, right there! My latest communications and last from Brian at the RUSH headquarters email.
