The Life in Surround Review is up, featuring a quick Atmos system tour and a demonstration on accessing the easter egg video:
Hey, you didn’t introduce us to your four legged friends in the video!
Thank you for showing us how to find the Something video.
So I see that you have your speakers setup for Auro3D (with them mounted straight above your fronts and surrounds). Have you tried them in a more traditional Dolby Atmos configuration? The front heights may not be able to be moved, but the rear heights could be brought in behind you with that bookcase. I had a couple of friends holding up my speakers in several different places before I mounted them. The final config was much closer to the standard Atmos design with the front ceiling speakers moved in off of the front wall toward the listening position and the the rear ceiling mounted behind me. I wonder if different speaker layouts effect the over all sound of Atmos mixes? For example, what if the mixer wanted to move the sound from the front towards the listeners and then back behind them. With an Auro3D config, the sound would start in the front, move straight up to the top and then out to the side surrounds and then out back behind you with your rear speakers. This moving sound example would probably be used more in a movie vs music, but if the mixers are mixing the music using Atmos, surely they have their studio monitors setup to design specs. I wonder how much difference ceiling speakers positioning may make?
Thank you for your Atmos videos,
