Correct, it was the first album they recorded that used 8 track exclusively. TWA started in 4 track and moved to 8 track about halfway through, so it's a bit of a hybrid.I also thought Abbey Road was their first 8-track recording?

For the QQ members living in Melbourne, I've just purchased this from BasementDiscs for $155AU! Great! I think they only have 2/3 copies left. It was quite a surprise to find it in stock for this price! Its the 27th here in AU. These are in stock from JBHiFi just down the road (1km away). $175AU
I thought Abbey Road was also 8-track? And for Sgt. Pepper, didn't Giles have access to all the pre-bounced tapes? (Fun read on the Sgt. Pepper remix here)
I have voted on bothI happily listened to my Abbey Road last night. It's wonderful. I'll listen a bit more critically today so I can speak intelligently about my vote. Where will I vote? On the Atmos thread!
Hope your visit lifts her spirits Duncan. Got far to travel?Well my copy has just unexpectedly turned up from amazon.fr but as I'm just about to set off to visit my mother who is not very well in hospital and I'm up there for the whole week, it'll have to wait, but at least I have something to look forward to for next weekend
@DuncanS our prayers and best wishes for your Mom. I know that you’ll be fully present for every moment of your visit with her. Abbey Road will still be there when you return home.Well my copy has just unexpectedly turned up from amazon.fr but as I'm just about to set off to visit my mother who is not very well in hospital and I'm up there for the whole week, it'll have to wait, but at least I have something to look forward to for next weekend
Man the more I think about that, the more of an ass burner it is! These corporate marketing decisions speak volumes as to the label’s core beliefs and lack of vision. If it’s not even mentioned on one of the most influential recordings ever, then not sure how all this is gonna go. I need my morning coffeeIn the U.S., UMG/Capitol has been running national television ads for the 50th Anniversary edition of Abbey Road toting the newly remastered STEREO EDITION but there is NO mention of the newly remixed 5.1/ATMOS remix by Giles Martin and Sam Okell.
IMO, an egregious omission!

Thanks that’s something.I heard a radio ad for the deluxe set and they mentioned that it was mixed for Dolby Atmos. No mention of 5.1 or 7.1 surround.

I believe a couple others (can't remember who) had issues with disc playing.Anyone here having issues playing this disc? I had to do a workaround to get to ay it, only for it to stop playing at on Golden Slumbers
