Holy Crap!.........................I voted 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!......I didn't check after I voted........But 10 squared if I could!
Thanks Dwight for being honest and changing your vote. And your thoughts on the Atmos mix I feel exactly the same. Can we get a message to Giles and thank him for such great work.

Talented people with the right tools can do remarkable things!

The quality of the origional production can't be overlooked on this one! Sir George Martin had more tracks to work with during the original recording. Makes it much easier for, in this case his son, to use the right tools and make it sound remarkable.

You're exactly right here Himey.
Thaink about it;
Sgt. Pepper: 4-tracks dubbed to death.
The White Album: 8-tracks on a far simplier album overall.
Abbey Road: 8-tracks. corrected for stupid mistake

So many totally disregard this very real & physically limiting factor.
IMO, people who complain about Sgt. Pepper should realize that it is a miracle it sounds as good as it does.

I have to live vicarously through folk's posts here until Tuesday.

I'm sure most folks here already know this, but stay away from the SHF Abbey Road thread if you value your sanity & time.

I've stayed away from the SHF for the same reasons they have no use for QQ Forum ....... we're on totally different wavelengths ....... but I will ALWAYS credit this wonderful forum for almost singlehandedly promulgating Surround over Stereo and introducing the joys of surround to a whole new generation ....... and through years of existence and now with the introduction of Dolby Atmos ........ has finally made Surround not only Acceptable ... but Respectable, as well!

So @dwight, a lot of folks here are wondering with such a glowing endorsement why you voted an 8 in the Poll? Of course your opinions are yours, we just would like the whole story for how you arrived at that number - Thanks :)

I vote 8 on a lot of things other people vote 10 on.

Example - this 5.1 mix, a much as I enjoy it, is somewhere below a ten for me.

I just reviewed the various Dolby Atmos speaker configurations for a refresher (they have a total of 39!) And here is the diagram for what I consider the sweet spot for configurations- a full 7.1.4. The #5 speakers on the sides are the "surrounds", and the #6 speakers at the back are the "rear surrounds."
