Indeed, the numbers are good....Sold Out...unless I'm very much mistaken šŸ¤”
As it's a pre-order with a limited time rather than a limited number, it's not defintite that the numbers are good. But I'm pretty sure they will be!

Indeed, the 10 day pre-order window closed on Sat 5 October 2024.

Looking at previous SDE releases, the minimum printed 'unit' quantities have been 750 (for Gilbert O'Sullivan, Driven), 1000 (for Ten Years After, A Space in Time), 1500 (for xPropaganda, The Heart Is Strange) and 1750 (for Orbital, Optical Delusion).

I wonder what the absolute minimum print quantity is for Paul to make a decent profit out of these exclusive releases?!
Iā€™m always shocked by -what to me seems like, ultra low numbers for such a golden opportunity to obtain great sounding physical discs of these artists. Hopefully as the word expands of this series the numbers will increase. With all the surround titles released in the past couple years (industry wide) it does seem like weā€™ve started crawling out of the pits.

Letā€™s get some Quick Step & Side Kick also please šŸ––

Sadly, there must be huge number of music enthusiasts who haven't discovered SDE yet...

With regard to 'unit' sales... In the late 70's/early 80's when I worked weekends in various record shops, we would often shift hundreds of units of the same singles (and sometimes albums) in one day. People would be queuing outside the stores. My, how times have changed!

Good point, well presented. Paul may have only sold 10 copies šŸ˜‰
Paul has indicated in another thread that The Who ā€œWhoā€™s Nextā€ was 5000 copies. Thatā€™s really interesting and good news. Thereā€™s lots more surround lovers out there than I thoughtā€¦.and itā€™s good to see. With this sort of volume, itā€™ll keep SDE in business. Iā€™ll be very interested to hear what the numbers end up being for Elton John ā€œDiamondsā€

I guess the demand will depend on whether this SDE release gets mentioned on EJ's website and the related regular subscriber emails. I think last week there was a vinyl version of Diamonds being promoted on the emails so this blu-ray might be on the next one. If it is I suspect Paul won't be getting much of a Xmas break with a 27 Dec release date. A double edged sword if ever there was!

To be honest, I'm not really sure how indicative SDE Surround Series sales are of multichannel music enthusiasm. I'm willing to bet that a sizable portion of those customers will never listen to the surround, and may not even ever unseal the disc, being primarily collectors. I hope I'm wrong.

I honestly can't see the point of buying a disc, just to let it sit on a shelf. Listen to it. Enjoy it. Soak in the majesty of the music but to just let a bit of plastic sit on a shelf? I just don't get it? I understand people collecting figures, sculpts etc because they are worth looking at but a blu ray that you'll never enjoy it's true purpose??? Baffling šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø

With Royal Mail closed for the 25th and 26th (Wednesday and Thursday) there may not be many copies shipped before the release date, so he'll at least get those two days off (and I'm not sure if Paul is hands on with the actual shipping anymore). With my previous pre-orders they seem to mostly ship on a Wednesday.

You're assuming most people have substantial time to sit in their listening rooms to enjoy their purchases.

There's a fault on the 5.1 mix of Doctor Doctor. It's the instrumental version - no vocals. The Atmos and Stereo mixes are fine, just the 5.1 of the first track on the album. I checked to see if the Instrumental album had the vocals on Doctor Doctor (maybe they'd been switched) but, alas no !
