Bucky Pizzarelli - Swing Live (SACD)

I'm not a big country fan either but I'd never part with my copy of Producer's Cut: Emmylou Harris (dvd-a). The voice of an angel.

I don't like country...BUT...I love the Patsy Cline disc...just something about her voice that touches my soul and the sound quality is excellent for something recorded that long ago.....I guess there are exceptions to the rule in every genre...

Talking Heads - "Naked"
Talking Heads -"Fear of Music"
Gentle Giant -"Power and the Majesty"

As long you're not referring to Brad Millers album, or a GG bootleg I've missed, I assume it's The Power and The Glory? :) A great album in itself, but the 5.1 mix is really something out of this world. A pristine, textbook show.

Just got in the SACD of "Every Breath You Take: The Classics" by the Police.

Been having this one in my Wish List for a few years now, and I finally decided to get it for a good price on eBay.

Sounding pretty good so far! The surround doesn't blow me away, but at least it makes sense! :)

I've had that one for years...and my best suggestion is to bump up the bass a bit and crank it up. It's got a real rock and roll vibe...similar to Bryan Adams...IMO.

In case you did not know, the Multichannel mix of De Doo Doo Doo Da Da Da is the 1986 remake that was supposed to follow Don't Stand So Close To Me. It was never released until the SACD came out and it isn't listed as such. Lovely little Easter Egg that one. :)

Actually I think the bass is fine the way it is, and the disc definitely rocks! Will be voting '8' on this one.

It is indeed! I'm guessing they did things that way because the multitracks for the original recording were not available.
(I think the video 5.1 mix on the DVD is an upmix)

New Year's Concert 2001 - Vienna Philharmonic - Harnoncourt (DVD-A)

Nikolaus Harnoncourt is better known as a pioneer of "early" classical music of the Baroque, etc... and Historically Informed Performance (HIP) playing techniques. But as a young cellist, he often played the music of Strauss in Vienna. Listening to this concert, one can sense that this music still holds a special place for him. There are other more famous Strauss conductors, such as Karajan, but I find Harnoncourt's gentle way these these waltzes to be quite appealing. The Surround mix is immersive. The rear channels are not exactly discrete, but they do join in the merriment and help give this recording a full sound.

Jeff Trott - Dig up the astroturf. Very aggressive mix that does remind me of Yoshimi battles the pink robots by the Flaming Lips. Like others have stated I think the vocals are a bit top heavy at times. It's good brunch music. The only problem is I rarely eat brunch.
