Why did Rhino stop doing their podcasts? I think the last one was in late 2021 for Bowie's "Toy". These new quad releases would make a great subject for one. On the other hand, when they did a podcast on the Doobie Brothers Quadio set they barely mentioned the quad mixes - the main reason people (on this forum at least) bought the box set.

Weren't the Joni Mitchell quads released by Asylum in the US and later purchased by Warner? Are they ruled out for this batch of Rhino releases?
All Quad Joni is and always has been with WMG.
The current focus with her is on the Era boxes and vinyl releases.
But I feel Quadios will happen.

Oh very good. There are times when a reissue of quad mix of an "iconic" album is simply off the table, the specific mix is evaluated and considered a ping-pong mess, and/or does not flatter the material. But with these two JM, and the majority of Warner's quadraphonic mixes - it's tasteful mixes with very high sound quality.

Fred, Doc said to lay off the caffeine and calories. :(

How about a remastered quad release of Humble Pie - Smokin.
The Q8 was done but nothing else, the mix reportedly hit and miss.
I've never heard it but,
I'd love to crank Hot&Nasty and 30 Days in the Hole !!!
well the album's on A&M, so Rhino wouldn't be reissuing it as a Quadio, we'd need Universal to get their act together and let's just say, diplomatically, if you had heard the Quad you maybe wouldn't be asking for it on Blu-ray! 🤣😅

yeay! 10:05, banana and juice time! 🍌🧃now where's them donuts.. 👀😈

??? Why, Have you heard the original master tapes the quad was mixed from?
no, i haven't. many of the A&M Quad mastertapes are said to be missing presumed gone forever anyway so not sure if anybody in any capacity would have the opportunity to hear the original Quad tapes now, sadly.

however that's all totally irrelevant to this discussion, the album's never gonna be a Quadio, it has nothing to do with Rhino and the so-called Quad on Q8 tape you refer to is a woeful example of Quad, like many of the earlier A&M Quads.

i could think of 20 Quads easy that are actually on Warner/Elektra/Asylum/Atlantic labels which Rhino could consider releasing before even thinking about any of the earlier A&M Q8 Quad efforts such as that Humble Pie abomination 🙂

I'm reading that as....not this time, but sometime in the future. And that's cool. 😎 And exciting! Court and Spark has always been a favorite of mine.

We'll wait.... impatiently. 🙂

Well the Best of Aretha Franklin on a Quadio release was 13 years ago. And since then have been very few releases. This is only forgiven by the fact that two of the releases were big box sets of exceptional quality material and mixes.

So four coming out soon and another four are currently being worked on is sweet news. Time is just racing so fast now.

We should take a pause and think of the quad fans and enthusiasts who are no longer around to enjoy the late releases we’ve been fortunate enough to obtain. It has been a long ride to get where we are.

The one A&M title I have a problem forgetting about in its quad mix is the wonderful Joan Baez “Diamonds and Rust.” Such a nice sounding recording that I’d hate to think it’s gone for good. Maybe if I heard that the 4-channel mix is a dud I’d feel better about its fate.
