There's one central database cataloging all the many vault's contents.

To those wanting DPs Stormbringer, I fully sympathize and hope it gets the release it deserves (with the Quad and more). However, my bets are on MOL because a) Foraging Rhino’s mention of alternate takes seemed to be addressing it, b) the ACG has been very generous in the last two years with remastered releases (including B$B in the first round of random Quadios) plus bonus tracks and remixes, and last but not least…c) FR liked my previous post shamelessly begging that it would be MOL.

MOL may or may not be among their strongest albums (in this room, it obviously depends on the fan that you talk to), but I’ve reassessed albums before because of a different mix, and would love to hear both the Quad and alt takes for this one. Besides, how can I forget learning to play the song Muscle Of Love in my friend’s basement and jamming it every chance we could? That warrants another purchase, IMO.

I personally love MOL! I do have the quad of it and am quite proud of that!

I have no idea how the WEA vault facilities are set up, but if it's anything like UMG's Iron Mountain Tape Vault, then it makes perfect sense why tracking down these master tapes from decades past can be a huge and expensive undertaking...not to mention the often times tricky and complicated licensing fees tied to any alternate format re-release. Nothing is going to be done without a clear cut ROI plan for all parties involved. This is just my own "two cents" opinion, but I don't think it's too far off the mark. If you want an eye-opening "fly on the wall" view of a multi-label tape vault, then settle back and bask in the glow of this facility tour.

I personally love MOL! I do have the quad of it and am quite proud of that!

I'm also proud that I had the original LP at time of release in the original cardboard box cover, and a few years later got the quad CD-4 LP, and eventually the Metal Blade 1st CD issue, and then the AF SACD with quad layer. There are some stellar tracks on this album that stand out like "Never Been Sold Before" and "Muscle of Love" and others that grew on me over the years like "Woman Machine" and especially "Hard Hearted Alice" which has really grown on me and might now be my favorite tune on the record. This album is definitely not a dud.

But to top it off, it got a really good quad mix that deserves more folks hearing it. I'm pretty sure AF only made 2,000 copies of the SACD, as I have never seen a copy with a higher #'d sticker. I'm hoping this indeed gets the deluxe edition treatment.

MoL was the first popular music CD-4 disc I bought in 1973 (a friend heard the album and bought the stereo version), I also bought the 1991 stereo CD, I might buy 2 copies of MoL if it is released as a Quadio.

Im watching this at work (dont tell my boss.....)
If I lived near Pittsburgh I would volunteer to work free as an intern to help in anyway just to be able to read the names on those boxes.
How much unreleased music must be there.
I would want to open boxes and play some reels.
That would get me escorted out by security lol.
Its great these are being catalogued but until someone is able to listen to what is on the tapes and preserve it the music is still lost.

As we know there are countless other tapes gone because they were tossed out by suits who didn't want to pay storage costs or the tape got reused for another recording session. art versus commerce always a hard balance.
